We are aware of the challenges many schools are facing in regards to their travel budgets. In response to those concerns, we are offering three regional TCPRA training seminars in place of our fall conference. We believe these will not only provide valuable learning and social opportunities, but will also give us an opportunity to introduce more members of your teams to the benefits of TCPRA at a more affordable cost.
Network with your TCPRA colleagues in East Tennessee Nov. 20 to discuss social media successes, failures and challenges. UT Knoxville will host the forum from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20. Cost is only $10. You can also take advantage of an option to plan a long weekend by purchasing a UT-Vandy football ticket.
Meeting Agenda:
10:00 - 11am On July 15, all of Big Orange Country waited with bated breath to see what would happen to UT Knoxville's beloved Rock as it moved to a new location just across the street. What no one expected before that day was the role social media would play in how the university communicated about the controversial move. The UT Knoxville social media team (Erik Bledsoe, Jay Mayfield and others) will kick off our discussion with the social media experience that "rocked" the university and helped rocket the university's Facebook page fan base to 37,000-plus.
11 - 11:45am Share your social media stories - good, bad and ugly - and swap advice on how to better use these tools to promote our schools.
11:45am - 1pm Lunch and shopping time (You'll receive a 15 percent discount voucher for lunch on your own at one of the University Center eateries, including Smokey's Cafe, Quiznos, Petros, Sbarro and Chick-fil-A. You'll also receive a 20 percent discount coupon to use at the UT Bookstore, also located in the University Center.)
1-1:45pm "Today Facebook, Tomorrow. . ." Audrey Williams of Pellissippi State Community College, who engaged the TCPRA crowd in Gatlinburg several years ago, will close our session with a look at the future of social media.
1:45pm Wrap-up and door prize parade. (Bring a "tchotchke" from your school!!)
You can purchase a UT-Vandy football ticket for $40 and get an $8 concession voucher free, if you'd like to turn your Friday visit into a weekend!
Park FREE in the University Center Parking Garage. Bring your ticket to the conference for validation.
Invite your friends and colleagues. TCPRA membership is NOT required to participate.
